question

What can I expect in the postoperative period after reverse shoulder replacement ?

answer

You will be in a sling for 4-6 weeks, but after the first week will begin physical therapy for passive range of motion exercises. At about 4 weeks after surgery, however, you will begin to wean yourself out of the sling, and at that point will begin active range of motion exercises. By about 2 months you can usually raise your arm above shoulder level and you should no longer require pain medicine.
